Johnny Depp’s Russian What?

A few days ago news purportedly leaked that Johnny Depp had been hiding his love interest, twenty-three-year-old Russian dancer, Polina Glen.  It’s been speculated that she is an escort, but since there is no proof of that besides what is on Russian websites that host her photos, I’ll stick with a dancer.  

Most of the articles online repeat the exact same thing almost verbatim, but the comments from Depp fans and haters are all over the charts.  Apparently, she posted photos on Instagram that hinted to their relationship which have been removed.  But, as they say, once it’s on the internet it’s on the internet and unabated Deppheads have downloaded them already.  There is something few have noticed.  The kissing photo from Belgrade along with Polina’s name was actually released by TMZ in February of 2019.  No one ran with it.   There’s a reason for that, no one cared.  According to the news, Depp filed a lawsuit against Heard for defamation of character in March.  Now people are searching for him online, so what better timing to re-leak the news of his purported girlfriend than now.

It has been confirmed that the two were attached, although time frame and extent of commitment is mere speculation.  Here is what I do know from working in the industry, everyone signs an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) regardless of the celebrity.  A-list celebrities are on a whole other level and take it very seriously.  Their personal friends often sign NDA’s and are not permitted to share photos on social media even if they’re in the photo themselves.  When you are in a relationship it’s common knowledge that you do not kiss and tell, not even to your friends.  I don’t know why anyone would want to do that anyway.  Some things are meant to be private and sacred.  Since this is the case and if any of the information released by Glen’s anonymous source is true, it means she failed in trusting her friend or failed to uphold the legally binding Non-Disclosure Agreement. Personally, it was a reckless thing to do since he is in the midst of intense legal battles.

No one can really say why he had not gone public with their relationship. Big celebrities like Benedict Cumberbatch and others often have gone public with their relationships but just never disclose who with until they’re married.  It’s out of respect for privacy and for the safety of their significant other.  But this is America, not England.  Maybe he wanted to wait until he was free and clear of all legal issues?  But, considering his highly publicized divorce extra precautions should have been taken.

From the photos that were cleared from Polina’s account, it is clear she was only thinking of herself.  Why hasn’t he come forth and addressed the rumors of his relationship?  For all, anyone knows his attorneys are holding her liable for breach of the agreement and he can’t get involved.  I do know in Hollywood when it’s just not worth the trouble, it’s just not worth the trouble.  It’s not as if she has posted photos of them together doing drugs or some other compromising position.  And it’s not like she is a high profile celebrity who could be impacted in a negative way.  Most of the backlash aimed at her is based solely on her lack of respect for Depp’s privacy.

If she did have any part in this scandal her behavior has been somewhat obsessive and her actions, vindictive.  And, most importantly, very immature.  Not sure what the actual goal was.  Was it to put pressure on Johnny?  Was it to boost her dancing “career?” So far, it has only resulted in a smear on Johnny Depp’s public image yet again.  Depp and his team are partially responsible in my opinion.  For one, her IG account should have been monitored from day one.  Oh, yeah, but when you’re in a relationship with someone you trust them.  Forgot all about that.  That trust thing.  I don’t believe for a moment that she didn’t know who he was because he didn’t look like himself.   Unless of course, he was in his W. Eugene Smith character. Even in his most homeless attire, he still looks like Johnny Depp.

If Depp really wants someone who isn’t after him because of status or money, he should try his luck with family friends, or friends of friends.  Not young girls he meets on set or at a party.  Instagram models and influencers are always striving to get more followers and they often do what they can to draw attention to themselves. For instance, Polina picked up over 30,000 more followers since this story broke.

 So, here is my assessment based on the information given.

They were in a relationship of some kind.  She tried to gain notariety in February by leaking a photo of them kissing taken by a friend of hers.  I must point out that the press has high-quality cameras which would produce a better quality photo.  Most people who own Iphone’s know that photos taken in dim light are grainy.  And, if actual paparazzi was there, there would be more angles and another variety of photographs of the same scene.  Perhaps Depp’s team caught wind of that photograph from one of their contacts at TMZ and then began to investigate.  Then they see the IG images aka photo-breadcrumbs.  Considering they deal with this sort of thing a lot and because they’ve been protecting him for decades, they probably figured out all of what I just said.  Depp did not feel safe and did not appreciate that his private life was exposed.  He lost trust and ended their relationship and instructed anyone who had any contact with Polina to distance themselves.  Which includes having no connection to her on social media.  She  retaliated by leaking the story to the Daily Mail since TMZ declined this time.  As repulsive as I think their antics are they only cover stories that have a certain degree of truth.  Interesting how they are confirming Heard stories and not Glen.  Am I right?

If I’m wrong and he is still “with” her after all this, I can see his popularity rating plummeting.  But seriously, everyone needs to remember, Johnny Depp is a grown man.  No one is making him choose women like Amber and Polina.  For some reason, although he is who he is, these women are who he believes he deserves to be with.
